GC‑ARGININE Injection — L‑Arginine Hydrochloride

GC‑ARGININE injection contains L‑Arginine Hydrochloride and is used to lower blood ammonia levels, act as an acidifying agent in metabolic alkalosis, and support diagnostic testing of pituitary growth hormone (GH) secretion.

Active Ingredient and Composition:

• Active ingredient: L‑Arginine Hydrochloride
• Concentration: 0.6 g/ml
• Vial content: 6 g in 10 ml vials or 15 g in 25 ml vials
• Form: colorless, transparent injectable solution
• Packaging: 10 ml or 25 ml vials, 10 ampoules per box

Indications and Therapeutic Use:

GC‑ARGININE injection is used in the following situations:

• Hyperammonemia (acute elevation of blood ammonia):
  • congenital urea cycle disorders (CPS, OTC, ASS, ASL deficiencies)
  • lysinuric protein intolerance
  • cases where oral therapy is ineffective
• Severe metabolic alkalosis:
  • functions as an acidifying agent to help restore plasma bicarbonate balance
• Pituitary function testing:
  • administered intravenously to evaluate growth hormone (GH) secretion during diagnostic assessments

Dosage and Administration:

• Hyperammonemia: continuous IV infusion of 0.2–1 g/kg body weight over 1 hour
• Metabolic alkalosis: IV dose calculated as:

L‑arginine (g)=desired bicarbonate reduction (mM/L)×body weight (kg)9.6

• Growth hormone stimulation test:
  • continuous IV infusion of 500 mg/kg over 30 minutes
  • includes fasting, resting, proper venous access, and timed blood sampling at 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes
  • plasma must be centrifuged immediately and stored at −20°C before analysis

Important Safety Notes:

• Must be administered under professional medical supervision
